Brianna Murphy, DO

Experience & Research

Dr. Murphy’s research interests revolve around supportive care in pediatric oncology to improve therapy compliance and outcomes. Her laboratory research in energy balance and pediatric leukemia specifically focuses on how diet affects chemotherapy efficacy in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Her clinical research investigates infectious disease in pediatric oncology patients to improve detection and treatment strategies.

Idea of Care

My osteopathic background has shaped my philosophy of patient care. I feel strongly that pediatric oncology requires a multidisciplinary team that provides care unique to the needs of each patient. My team strives to care for the whole patient, not just the disease. I focus on maximizing supportive care to help patients complete their therapy with the best possible outcomes. I have focused on nutrition and infectious disease research. However, I ultimately hope to contribute to the improvement of all supportive care involved in pediatric hematology and oncology. I want to maximize therapy compliance and minimize side effects and late effects of therapy.

Personal Interests

Dr. Murphy loves nature and the outdoors. In her time off, she frequents national and state parks to camp, hike and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the wilderness. She also has a strong passion for an oncology camp that allows her patients to enjoy being kids. The program lets her see her patients outside of the hospital and reminds her that they are truly amazing, resilient children who inspire her every day.
