Patients and Visitors

First time patients are asked to stop by the New Patient Registration Desk. This will allow us to get you entered into our system in a timely manner. A few items to make sure you have with you:

  • insurance cards
  • Social Security number
  • emergency contact information

For established patients we ask that you also bring in your current insurance information so we can verify your address and coverage at each visit. Once we have the correct information we are able to file your insurance claims for you.

Patient Bill of Rights

When you are sick or injured, legalities may not seem important, but they are. Did you know that you have rights as a Sanford patient that are protected by law? Knowing your rights can help you and your family make important decisions about your healthcare. Sanford Health is here to protect and promote your patient rights. To learn more, visit our Patient Bill of Rights.

The DAISY Award

The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the autoimmune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. During Pat’s eight week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided, not only to Pat but to his entire family. After Pat’s passing, his family decided to honor him by creating a foundation in his name. One of their goals was to recognize nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the super-human work they do every day.

The DAISY Award is an international program to recognize nurses who personify Sanford’s Health’s remarkable patient experience. These nurses consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community. Sanford Health is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner by recognizing one of our nurses with this special honor four times a year.

Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in his or her unit and will receive a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture entitled “A Healer’s Touch”. Additionally everyone in the unit will celebrate with cinnamon rolls, which were a favorite of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes family asks that whenever and wherever nurses smell that wonderful cinnamon aroma, they stop for a moment and think about how special they are.

Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians or employees may nominate a deserving nurse.
