Prenatal Breastfeeding Preparation

Prenatal Breastfeeding Preparation

Learn the basics of breastfeeding through the latest information and trends. Expectant mothers and their support persons will hear from an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and get hands-on practice positioning the baby with life-sized dolls. We’ll also run through breast pumps and breastfeeding positioning aids.

At the Prenatal Breastfeeding Preparation Class, you’ll learn:

  • How your body makes milk
  • What an effective latch looks like
  • How to know if your baby is feeding well
  • Skin-to-skin holding basics
  • How to achieve breastfeeding success
The class is taught by our lactation consultant, Jo Lynn Rowbotham, RN, IBCLC. She has over 30 years of experience at Sanford Health, including working as a registered nurse in the NICU and as a lactation consultant.
