Frequently Asked Questions
How often will I need to receive Immunotherapy?
Immunotherapy will require 1-2 visits per week for several months. The dose will be increased to build up resistance to the allergen, which results in your symptoms subsiding. Once this is achieved, the allergy shots will continue every 4 weeks for about 3 to 5 years.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Refrain from exercise or vigorous activity for two hours before and after your appointments. Be sure your provider knows about all prescription and over-the-counter medications you are taking as well as whether you are pregnant or have plans to become pregnant.
How long does it take for Immunotherapy to take effect?
A decrease in symptoms usually occurs sometime between the phase of the increased dosage taking place and just before the maintenance dose is achieved.
