Worthington Regional Hospital Auxiliary awards scholarships
The Worthington Hospital Auxiliary presented two $1,000 scholarships at a recent meeting. Recipients of the scholarships are:
- Dee Dee Behnke is currently the Respiratory Care Manager at the hospital and is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Minnesota State University in Mankato. She plans to graduate with that degree in December 2018.
- Jacob Schemmer is currently an LPN at the cancer center and is pursuing his Associate’s Degree in Nursing at Minnesota West Community and Technical College. He plans to graduate with that degree in June 2018.
The scholarship program was developed by the Auxiliary more than 30 years ago and annually, awards scholarships to graduates of Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Worthington Campus, who are planning to seek additional training in the health field and/or to an employee of Sanford Worthington who is or is planning to further his/her education in the health field.
The 2017 Auxiliary Scholarship Committee members include Sara Ricker, co-chairperson, Holly Sieve, co-chairperson and Clara Jewson. The committee also had advisors that helped in the selection process including Kathi Haberman, lead learning and development specialist and Jena Versteeg, performance improvement specialist and risk manager.
There were four applicants – three of which are current Sanford Worthington employees who are furthering their education and a Minnesota West students who has completed at least one year of their medical program and are continuing their education in the health care field. All applicants had excellent grade point averages and were involved in additional activities either on campus or in the community.
