Since it began in 1990 Spirit Camp has provided a supportive and educational camp experience for children. It is designed to enhance self-confidence and improve independence. Kids have fun while mom and dad breathe easier knowing their child is in a safe, barrier-free environment under careful guidance of highly trained staff.
Spirit Camp allows children to discover they are not alone. Their disabilities are common to others and their situation is not unique. Spirit Camp activities promote self-esteem, creativity and self-expression in a therapeutic environment.
Over 1,200 children have had the opportunity to attend and live beyond the limits of their disability. Camp activities include dancing, drumming, swimming, tubing, fishing, a camp dance, archery, paintball and BB guns, a wheelchair basketball tournament, the Spirit Camp Olympics, yoga and meditation, a ropes course for older campers and a carnival. Each day concludes with an inspiring camp fire.
2017 camp dates: July 16-22, 2017, Joy Ranch, Watertown, SD

The staff at Spirit Camp in Maple Lake, MN go out of their way to provide an environment for kids living with spina bifida that is fun, safe, life-enriching, educational, and 'thrilling'.
The kids at Spirit Camp are wonderful. There's nothing they can't do when they set their minds to it.
That's Where the Spirit Lies
This is the closing song of every summer at Spirit Camp. It's hard for anyone to finish this song without being brought to tears. The whole week at camp (with kids like themselves) is such a flood of experiences that lift, encourage and prepare these kids for life none of them want it to end.
