Discovering Cures and Improving Cancer Treatments
At Sanford Cancer we are proud pioneers of advanced cancer care and treatment. It's just one of the things we do to help patients recognize victories in their cancer journey. Our commitment to research means we deliver state-of-the-art care by some of the nation’s leading physician scientists and clinical researchers. We encourage our patients to participate in both cooperative clinical trials and those offered only at Sanford Cancer. By doing so, they gain access to tomorrow's treatments today.
NCORP Clinical Research Site
Sanford Health is a National Cancer Institute Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) site and was awarded a five-year grant totaling more than $7.1 million to recruit participants for cancer clinical trials, quality of life studies and cancer-care delivery research. Sanford is among 34 community sites that will recruit participants and partner with the seven NCORP research base hubs to design and conduct multi-center cancer prevention, control and screening/post-treatment surveillance clinical trials and studies.
Our Sanford Research Physician Scientists
Sanford Health is home to several nationally renowned physician scientists. Physician scientists are doctors who have dedicated time for medical research at the Sanford Research Center based in Sioux Falls, SD. As a result, Sanford Cancer is leading the way in genetic research, immunotherapy, and is able to offer novel cancer treatments unavailable at other health care institutions.
