Gift of Time: A New Acute Care Hospice Facility
Time. It escapes all of us on a daily basis. One of the greatest gifts families can offer each other is focused, undivided attention. Quality time is more precious than ever when one is nearing the end of life.
Sanford Hospice provides the gift of time to those with life-limiting illnesses and their families – time for husbands, wives, moms, dads, sons and daughters to be just that, instead of round-the-clock caregivers.
Sanford Health is dedicated to the work of health and healing throughout a person’s life. This care starts at birth and continues through to when a patient’s pain and other symptoms are beyond the scope of medical care; when their family must make end-of-life decisions. To accommodate this most sensitive time in a person’s life, Sanford will offer patients and their families a new acute hospice facility designed to allow them to spend their precious last days together in a home-like setting.
This new acute care hospice facility will include 20 beds in private family suites. Each family suite will feature a warm and welcoming private bedroom and bathroom, and include a separate adjoining space for extended family members. The facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, provide 24-hour nursing care for every patient and continue to promote family centered end-of-life care.
What’s especially unique to this facility is a special section devoted to our pediatric hospice patients. These suites will be uniquely equipped with passionate individuals and age-appropriate resources to enable families to experience the end-of-life period with the utmost compassion.
Sanford Health Foundation is currently working with community members who have a strong interest in this unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to provide the first lead gifts to create this new facility.
