(Sioux Falls, SD) – Sanford USD Medical Center and the team at Sanford Heart Hospital have received the American Heart Association’s ‘Get With The Guidelines®’ Silver Recognition for 2013. The award recognizes Sanford USD Medical Center and Sanford Heart Hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart failure patients.

The American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines–Heart Failure program helps us to accomplish this goal,” said Dr. Orvar Jonsson, director of Sanford’s Heart Failure Clinic and South Dakota’s only board-certified heart failure cardiologist. “This recognition demonstrates that we are on the right track and we’re very proud of our team.”
Hospitals that implement ‘Get With The Guidelines®’ show measurable results, including improved patient outcomes and fewer recurring events.
