(Sioux Falls, SD) – Nearly $1.2 million was raised during the 13th annual Sanford Children’s Gala on August 4. The record-breaking donations will support pediatric programming, services and research, and help launch the new pediatric cardiovascular surgical program at Sanford.
More than 1,550 guests attended, including a number of local, regional and international dignitaries. In addition to supporting the cardiovascular surgery program, funds raised will also benefit the Sanford Children’s Fund, the Sanford Children’s Health Research Center Fund, the Sanford Children’s World Clinic Fund and the Sanford Project Fund, the initiative to cure type 1 diabetes.
“It’s heartwarming to witness the generosity of our guests and sponsors, who are so committed to ensuring children in the area, across the country and around the world have access to the very best healthcare,” said Brian Mortenson, President of the Sanford Health Foundation. “We are so grateful that a portion of the funds raised will also help lay the groundwork for the new pediatric cardiovascular surgery program, which will benefit hundreds of families every year.”
Sanford Children’s Gala was the culmination of an entire week of announcements, tributes and celebration at Sanford Health. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $5 million for children’s health programming at Sanford.
