(Sioux Falls, SD) – Nurses from across Sanford Health’s 130-thousand square foot system join together in Sioux Falls to celebrate nursing, learn, and plan for future growth. The Nursing Symposium is a two-day event and is part of Sanford Week 2012.
“It is so exciting to bring together this group of talented nurses from around the area,” says Diana Berklnd, Chief Nursing Officer for Sioux Falls. “Our nurses are a what makes our organization We celebrate the work they do and we are happy to offer them advancement and educational opportunities like this symposium.”
The two day event on July 31st and August 1st at the Sioux Falls Convention Center features two keynote speakers: Tim Porter-O’Grady, DM, EdD,ScD(h), APRN, FAAN and Kathleen Bartholomew, MN, RN. Porter-O’Grady is currently senior partner of an international health care consulting firm in Atlanta. Bartholomew joined the health care profession in 1994. She looks at her background in marketing and business communications and brings a unique perspective to the field.
“We welcome our two keynote speakers to this symposium,” says Berklnd. “They will focus on the future of practice, how , and the importance of working together . so very important to an organization our size.”
The Nursing Symposium is a part of The Year of the Nurse at Sanford Health. All year Sanford Health has been lifting up the nursing profession within the organization. Among many other things, nurses were honored at a special All Aglow event in Fargo, Bemidji and Sioux Falls. Sanford Health is offering nursing education scholarships, an opportunity to travel to a World Clinic location and to spend the day with an executive. The year has celebrated a legacy of service, honored achievements in nursing and applauded the role nurses play within the system.
