First PREMIER Bank, PREMIER Bankcard and Sanford Health have been awarded the title sponsorship of the new Event Center by the City of Sioux Falls, pending final approval by the City Council. The three entities came together to provide a title sponsorship proposal to honor Denny Sanford for his leadership and visionary role in First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard, in addition to his generous contributions to a wide variety of local, state and national charities, including Sanford Health. The name of the facility will be:
Denny Sanford PREMIER Center
“We’d like to thank Mayor Huether and his staff for championing this effort, along with the people of Sioux Falls for voting for the Events Center and understanding the positive impact it can have,” said Miles Beacom, President and CEO of PREMIER Bankcard. “The investment we have made in the title sponsorship is a reflection of our commitment to not only honor Denny, but to stand behind the community’s vote and give something back, which will have a positive impact for generations to come. Dana Dykhouse, CEO of First PREMIER Bank added, “We have always believed in the event center project and have made the appropriate investment to help ensure that it will have a firm foundation on which it can be successful in the short and long-term.”
Under the terms of the contract with the City, the companies are establishing and making a one-time contribution to a fund at Sanford Health Foundation. The payment to the city is expected to come primarily or totally from the income of this account. By funding the account now, the companies will minimize their expense in making the fixed annual payment to the City, which is not dependent on the investment performance of the account. Consistent with the Mayor’s plans, the City intends to use the annual payment to help cover operating expenses for the facility.
Sanford Health President and CEO, Kelby Krabbenhoft stated, “It’s not often that these types of opportunities come around. We are excited to be able to be a part of this future landmark in Sioux Falls and look forward to the economic opportunities it will provide the City and its residents in the future. Our obvious comfort and embrace of the name Sanford is no different than anyone feels about their own family name. This event center allows us to demonstrate the impact of Denny Sanford’s generosity to all of South Dakota and the region, which comes from his deepest hopes and dreams for the people here. I know as well as anyone the depth of his commitment to the people of Sioux Falls and this part of the country. He always hoped the city would create a center like this, because he instinctively knows it is where celebration and great relationships meet. The Denny Sanford Premier Center perfectly matches the generosity of a man, the intimate relationship of his business success to the community, and his love of people. It’s a perfect name.”
