(Thief River Falls, MN) – Sanford Health is excited to announce construction plans for the new Sanford Thief River Falls Medical Center and Clinic and to release a long-awaited architects rendering of the future facility - click here to download the rendering.
This new $60 million facility will increase access to medical services and specialists for people throughout northwestern Minnesota. Ground breaking is slated for Spring 2012 and the new facility should be completed by late Fall 2014. The new location will centralize care for patients, with clinic and hospital services conveniently located on one medical campus.
Sanford Health has served medical needs in Thief River Falls since 2007 but the original Medical Center was built in 1932. More than 540 Sanford Health employees work in the community providing a variety of services, including hospital care, physical and occupational therapy, health education, and emergency medicine. “Over the years, Sanford Health has worked to advance healthcare throughout the region,” says Chris Harff, CEO of Sanford Thief River Falls Medical Center.
“This new medical center will shape the future of healthcare in the community and region,” said Harff. “This is a great opportunity that will allow us to meet our patients’ needs for years to come.”
In addition to construction of a new medical center and clinic, the project will include remodeling of the existing clinic on Highway 59 to be used by Sanford to expand and co-locate behavioral health inpatient and outpatient services. Other services at that location will include dialysis and the wellness center. Unless the old building that houses the current hospital in central Thief River Falls is sold, it will be torn down and converted into a green space to enhance the downtown area’s access to the river.
Currently, Sanford Health offers specialists in a wide variety of areas, including audiology, chiropractic, orthopedics, oncology, pain management, urology, internal medicine, podiatry, sleep medicine, and ear, nose, and throat care. The 25-bed critical access hospital and clinic provides many inpatient and outpatient services, including:
- Behavioral health care
- Cardiac rehabilitation
- Dietitian services
- Family medicine
- Laboratory services
- Radiology (ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI)
“Healthcare is important to Thief River Falls and Sanford Health is proud to be part of the community,” Chris Harff said. “With this new facility we can look forward together to many good things to come.”
