Sanford Aberdeen Announces New CEO

Sanford Health Network announced today its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Aberdeen.

Gordon Larson new Aberdeen CEO.(Aberdeen, SD) – Sanford Health Network announced today its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Aberdeen. Gordon Larson will serve as the new medical center CEO beginning May 23. Larson has served in healthcare leadership roles for nearly 20 years throughout the Midwest. Most recently, he served as the CEO for Winner Regional Healthcare Center in Winner, SD. Prior to that, he served as hospital CEO in Elbow Lake, MN. Larson has also held notable roles in Spirit Lake, IA, Galesburg, IL and Cherokee, IA.

“I am incredibly humbled and honored to have the responsibility to bring this new state-of-the art facility to Aberdeen and surrounding communities,” said Larson. “I genuinely look forward to meeting the people and businesses of Aberdeen and working together to form long-standing relationships to ensure quality health care delivery, close to home.”

Larson is a graduate of Winona State University in Winona, MN and also holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. He also holds a diploma in accounting from Rochester Community and Technical College. In addition to his hospital administration experience, Larson also served as president of Health Software of Mt. Pleasant, Inc., which created computer software for small community hospitals.

His business sense, knowledge of the Sanford system and his strength of character make him the right fit to lead this new hospital.”

His experience as a hospital administrator plus his business leadership background will be of significant benefit to the growth of healthcare services in Aberdeen. ” Larson and his wife Dorothy together have four grown daughters and seven grandchildren.
