(Sioux Falls, SD and Monarch Beach, CA) – Sanford Health today announced it made this year's InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology. The 2010 list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the exclusive InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.
Sanford Health was recognized for its Oncology Active List, which is a report of active oncology clinical trials that are seeking to enroll new patients. The report joins data from Sanford's Clinical Research Management software with Sanford's electronic medical record in the Sioux Falls region, called docZ. This allows physicians and nurses to view the information while meeting with cancer patients.
"Before we launched the Oncology Active List, the physician had to leave the room to obtain this information from another system," said Arlyn Broekhuis, Sanford Health Chief Information Officer. "It has significantly improved our process, and the physician can more efficiently determine which studies may best be applied to their patient."
Because of its success, the Oncology Active List is being extended to the rest of clinical research study areas in the Sioux Falls region, and eventually to the Fargo region.
"For 22 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. "As we start to emerge from the worst recession in decades, the IT focus is now on driving growth—new sources of revenue, new relationships with customers, even new business models. This year's ranking placed special emphasis on those companies and business technology executives leading that charge."
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. Top winners have included: CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
