(Fargo, ND) - Sanford Health is proud to announce the re-opening of the Same Day Surgery Center in Fargo as a response to an increased demand for surgical care and the organization's commitment to pioneering innovative patient care for the region. The facility has been redesigned to offer the latest in outpatient care to make receiving same day surgery easier and more convenient.
Members of the media are invited to attend the Sanford Same Day Surgery Center VIP Open House & Ribbon Cutting ceremony on August 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. with ceremony taking place at 4 p.m. Sanford Health leadership will be available to interview before or during the event.
"This new facility allows us to provide focused care that caters specifically to outpatients without the disruptions and delays often involved in our hospital operating rooms where emergencies are given priority," said Dennis Millirons, president of Sanford Medical Center Fargo.
The facility opens August 16 and will accommodate up to 30 cases per day with a focus on urology, gynecology and general surgeries that require a short amount of time and allow patients to go home the same day.
"We're excited to be experiencing a strong increase in surgical care volume. Since the merger, we've been able to hire more surgeons in new specialties which means we can offer patients more options. The Sanford Same Day Surgery Center increases our operating room capacity by 20 percent and provides physicians and patients with the convenience of another facility to meet their needs," says Becky Moch, executive director, Surgical Services. "We expect to see an increase in efficiency and timeliness for all of our surgical patients as a result of this."
Renovations include a new interior design that streamlines the patient care experience and a calming décor that creates a soothing, relaxing environment. New amenities for those waiting for patients undergoing surgery include comfortable seating, a computer station, wireless connectivity, check-out DVD players, board games/activities and refreshments and rolls. Front door parking provides easy access.
The Same Day Surgery Center was closed in 2002 following the acquisition of Dakota Heartland Hospital which had 10 operating rooms and is now the Sanford Health South University campus in Fargo.
