(Sioux Falls, SD) - Sanford Children’s Hospital will host the 24th Annual International SOFT Conference July 14-18. Support Organization for Trisomy 18, 13 and Related Disorders (SOFT) is an organization dedicated to supporting families impacted by chromosome disorders. The event, to be held at Sioux Falls’ Castle of Care™, is themed Kicking Back Softly in South Dakota, Where Kids are Treated Like Royalty.
This year’s SOFT conference will involve educational and medical resources, including clinics, workshops and a scientific symposium.
“Sanford Children’s is honored to be part of the International SOFT conference being held in Sioux Falls,” said H. Eugene Hoyme, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Sanford Children's Hospital. “We are especially excited about the chance to conduct a multidisciplinary clinic for 26 children and their families and to give educational workshops during the conference.”
Other events consist of a silent auction, sibling outings to the Washington Pavilion and Wild Water West, and a picnic and balloon release to pay tribute to SOFT children who have died. Mogen’s Heroes will also perform at the welcome dinner.
SOFT is a network of families and professionals dedicated to providing support and understanding to families involved in the issues and decisions surrounding the diagnosis and care in Trisomy 18, 13 and related chromosomal disorders. Support is provided during prenatal diagnosis, the child’s life and after the child’s passing.
