Some couples are ringing in the New Year as a new mom and dad.
For Stacy and Jason Stahl January 1, 2010, will be a day they'll never forget. At 12:15 a.m. Friday, they became first-time parents as their baby girl Joslyn Marie was born, weighing in at 8 pounds 2 ounces.
“When they said we were in the running for the New Year's baby when I was in labor and I was like, ‘Oh, I don't know we'll see.’ Wouldn't be so bad either way I guess,” Stacy Stahl said.
Mom was admitted to the hospital Thursday morning, but baby Joslyn was just a bit early. She was due January 6. The couple says they didn't even know what time it was until after their baby girl arrived.
“Everybody joked about, 'Oh, you'll have a New Year's baby, you'll have a New Year's baby.' We were surprised yeah,” Stahl said.
The Sioux Falls couple expects lots of visitors because it is a holiday and they already hope to welcome siblings for Joslyn sometime in the future.
Sanford's last baby born in 2009 was born December 31 at 11 p.m. It was a girl weighing 7 pounds even.
Avera McKennan welcomed their first New Year's baby at 8:12 a.m. Friday.
