The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recently honored the nation’s best educator, and the physician they selected is a professor and administrator for Sanford Children’s.
Joseph Zenel Jr., MD was awarded the 2009 American Academy of Pediatric Education Award during a ceremony in Washington, DC in October. According to the AAP, "This award recognizes a member of the Academy whose career reflects educational contributions that have had a broad and positive impact on the health and well-being of children and adolescents. The selection subcommittee considers potential nominees with a broad perspective of educational contributions, ranging from bedside instruction to formation of a national child health educational policy."
Dr. Zenel is the Executive Director of Medical Education at Sanford Children’s, Professor and Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics at the Sanford School of Medicine and Director of the new Sanford Pediatric Residency Program.
