Melissa Patterson and her daughter traveled all the way from Alabama to Sioux Falls for a softball tournament, only to end up in the emergency room. Melissa tells about her experience at Sanford's Trauma 5.
Dear Sanford Health,
My name is Melissa Patterson. My daughter and I were in Sioux Falls at the end of July for the ASA Nationals Softball Tournament. My daughter, Tenna, is a pitcher, and she took a line drive to her abdomen during a game. We came to Sanford’s Trauma 5, and I just wanted to let everyone know that we had a wonderful experience.
Being in a strange town and having a very southern accent (we’re from Alabama), I was worried about being labeled as a “hick” and worried about the treatment we would receive. My worries were soon put to rest. We were treated with kindness and very good care. Not only did they take excellent care of my daughter, they got her patched up and out in time for her next game!!
I am a registered nurse, and I know how hard it is to get things done so fast. Everyone from the lady who checked us in to the radiologist who read the ultrasound to the gentleman who transported us were all very efficient, nice and professional.
I just wanted to drop a note of thanks to everyone at Sanford and everyone involved in my daughter’s care. Thanks again, and please know that you should be very proud of your facility.
