September 24-26, MeritCare will host its 13th annual 61for61 fundraiser to raise funds to support the MeritCare Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo. There is an impressive list of events running all three days including: the fun run/walk, the radiothon being hosted by 107.9 The Fox, a classic car and motorcycle show, a silent auction, and many other family-oriented events.

Beginning on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6 a.m., Robbie Daniels and Dave Jacobs from 107.9 The Fox will air live at the SunMart parking lot on the corner of 32nd Ave and 25th St. S. They will be live all day Thursday and Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday until 7 p.m. They will be gathering donations and telling the incredible stories of cancer patients, both past and present. Behind them will be the honor wall where the names of those who have lost their fight and those who continue to fight can be written.

A silent auction will run during the three-day radio broadcast in the SunMart parking lot including a signed keyboard by Billy Joel and Elton John, guitars signed by AC/DC and the Eagles, a signed t-shirt from Bret Michaels, and many other items.

Other highlights of the three-day event are a Family Fun event with games from Games Galore in the SunMart parking lot on Friday from 3-9 p.m. The classic car and motorcycle show, also in the parking lot, runs from 5-9 p.m. that day, and Rhyme or Reason will be playing from 7-10 p.m.

Saturday, registration for the Home Walk/Run begins at 8 a.m. with the race beginning at 9 a.m. from the MeritCare Southpointe parking lot. At noon, the FM Crusaders will host a mystery ride that starts at the Dilworth VFW. The motorcycles will arrive at 5 p.m., and DJ Crash will provide entertainment for the barbeque that begins at 5:30 p.m.

This year, the honorary chair is Wahpeton resident Jodie Waclaw, a new cancer survivor who is just months past treatment. She says of her reason to get involved with the events, "I think RMCC will always be a part of my life. I am giving back because they gave me the tools to keep me alive. Cancer – you think it's going to be negative, and because of them, it was a positive for me."

As a benefit for the Roger Maris Cancer Center, this three-day event raises money and awareness about the work being done for cancer treatment and survivors. For more information, please visit 61for61.meritcare.com.
