Hundreds of Runners to Raise Money for Ill Children

Sioux Falls Half-Marathon, Miracle 5K & Kids Miracle Mile This Sunday

(Sioux Falls, SD) – A serious illness or injury can feel like a marathon for a child and their family. To help with that struggle, more than 1,300 runners will participate in the Sioux Falls Half-Marathon, Miracle 5K or Kids Miracle Mile this Sunday, September 13.

  • The Sioux Falls Half-Marathon begins at Howard Wood Field at 7:30 a.m. It finishes at Sertoma Park. The first runners will likely cross the finish line around 8:45a.m. Around 1,000 participants are expected to run the 13.1 mile course which winds through downtown and the Sioux Falls bike trail.
  • The Miracle 5K begins at 8: 30 a.m. at Sertoma Park. Around 300 runners are expected for this race. It also ends at Sertoma Park.
  • The Kids Miracle also begins and ends at Sertoma Park. This race is for children, but parents and other adults are encouraged to tag along. It starts at 9:30 a.m.

This is the twelfth year of the event with all proceeds benefiting the Children's Miracle Network at Sanford Children's Hospital. Starting 2010, in conjunction with the Sioux Falls Sports Authority, a full marathon will be added to annual event. Next year's races will take place on September 12, 2010.
