Cleaning up with the Largest Washer in South Dakota

Sanford USD Medical Center recently unveiled its new mega-washer during an open house for employees and visitors.

“It’s amazing and something you have to wish for everywhere laundry is done,” said Braco Ivanic, Laundry Supervisor, Sanford USD Medical Center.

  • Installed by a crane through the ceiling
     
  • Stands 11 feet tall and measures 40 feet long
     
  • Each 150-pound sack of laundry holds a microchip card that tells the new machine how to wash the sack
     
  • Automatically loads itself and completes the entire wash, dry and fold cycle in 30 minutes
     
  • Capable of washing 25,000 pounds of laundry in seven hours
     
  • Projected to save $150,000 a year by using less soap and water
