Sanford USD Medical Center recently unveiled its new mega-washer during an open house for employees and visitors. The open house showcased the laundry’s recent remodel and expansion.

- Installed by a crane through the ceiling
- Stands 11 feet tall and measures 40 feet long
- Each 150-pound sack of laundry holds a microchip card that tells the new machine how to wash the sack
- Automatically loads itself and completes the entire wash, dry and fold cycle in 30 minutes
- Capable of washing 25,000 pounds of laundry in seven hours
- Projected to save $150,000 a year by using less soap and water
