Catching cancer early saves lives, so Sanford Mid-Dakota Medical Center (Chamberlain) brought a cancer screening event to Kimball, SD in April. Participants were checked for skin cancer, oral cancer and colon cancer. Women also received a clinical breast exam and cervical cancer screening. Men were screened for prostate cancer.
Staff from Sanford Mid-Dakota also screened people for glucose and cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density and body fat analysis. In addition, a pharmacist offered medication consultation and a registered dietitian offered information about healthy diets. The Sanford Cancer Center distributed information about smoking cessation assistance and breast cancer awareness.
