The construction of the new Ronald McDonald House® on the Sanford USD Medical Center campus is nearing completion. The structure itself is complete, and workers have almost finished installing internal systems, such as electrical, plumbing and heating. The new 18-bedroom, 25,000-square-foot home is expected to open fall 2009, with an opening fundraiser to take place on October 2. The Ronald McDonald House® is being built by the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE) on the corner of 17th Street and Lake Avenue near Sanford Children’s Hospital.
The mission of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota is to support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. The home will be a place where families can have a comforting place to stay with warm meals while their seriously ailing child receives medical attention.
