Update on Deputy Chris Dewey

Today, Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, Mahnomen County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Dewey remains in satisfactory condition at MeritCare Hospital, 801 Broadway N., Fargo, N.D., where he underwent speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy sessions. It's expected that within the next three-five days that Chris will be transferred to MeritCare's rehabilitation unit at MeritCare South University (MCSU), 1720 University Dr. S., Fargo. The unit specializes in intensive rehabilitative therapy. (In Fargo, MeritCare has one hospital with two locations; one in downtown Fargo and MCSU.) Almost all media outlets that have covered Chris' story have asked to talk with his wife, Emily. While we fully expected to receive these requests, Emily has made the decision to interview with one media outlet, with the expectation that the interview, in its entirety, be shared with all other media outlets.

We have received some requests to interview Chris. While we have talked with Emily about this, at this time, Chris will not be granting interviews; he may consider doing so in the future. Emily said today that Chris' sense of humor is continuing to shine through; he has been teasing her that she should cuddle with him in his hospital bed.
