(Sioux Falls, SD)— Sanford Health announced today Wendy Y. Pitt, MD, FAAP will join Sanford Children’s Clinic Duncan when it opens summer 2009. As the first pediatrician for the city of Duncan, OK, this is an important step forward in the completion of the new Sanford Children’s Clinic.
Dr. Pitt is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency from the Wright State University Integrated Pediatrics Residency in Dayton, OH. She has worked at the Okmulgee Indian Health Center in Okmulgee, OK, and most recently, Eagle Pass Pediatric Health Clinic in Eagle Pass, TX.
“Sanford Children’s has a proven track record of outstanding pediatric care, and I look forward to joining the team,” said Dr. Pitt. “I’m also eager to work with children and families in the Duncan area to provide them care close to home.”
Dr. Pitt is one of two pediatricians who will see patients at Sanford Children’s Clinic Duncan. Sanford Health will announce a second pediatrician before the clinic opens in summer 2009.
The clinic, being built on a four acre lot on the northwest corner of the Duncan Regional Hospital campus, is the first in a series of Sanford Children’s Clinics around the world thanks to a historic $400 million donation from businessman and philanthropist Denny Sanford. The new 8,000-square-foot facility is designed to look like a castle.
Sanford Children’s Clinic Duncan pediatricians will be closely connected to the exceptional team of pediatric physicians at Sanford Children’s Hospital who are specially trained in a wide variety of pediatric subspecialties. A new Sanford Children’s Hospital, also designed to look like a castle, is currently under construction and set to open March 2009.
