Clarification of Numbers Affected by Work Force Reduction

There has been some confusion about the numbers affected by the restructuring at MeritCare based on the media release we sent on Monday. We apologize that the previous information we sent was not clear.

There has been some confusion about the numbers affected by the restructuring at MeritCare based on the media release we sent on Monday. We apologize that the previous information we sent was not clear.

MeritCare will be reducing its work force this week and it is expected that:
  • 75 - 100 employees will lose their jobs.
  • A number of employees will have their hours reduced. (This number will be released on Thursday.)
  • A number of jobs MeritCare currently has open will not be filled. (This number will be released on Thursday.)


This means that MeritCare will be reducing its work force by approximately 300 full-time equivalents across the entire health system.

More information about the changes at MeritCare will be available at Thursday's news conference which will be held at 1:30 p.m. More information about where/when to meet to attend the news conference, or how to connect via telephone, will be sent in a news release later today.
