Sanford Clinic Physician Named SD Family Physician of the Year

(Sioux Falls, SD)—Sanford Clinic Physician Robert Ray Seidel, MD of Sioux Falls was recently named South Dakota Family Doctor of the Year (FDOY). Dr. Seidel received the award during the South Dakota Academy of Family Physicians (SDAFP) 2008 Winter Seminar in Spearfish, SD held February 7-9. Governor Michael Rounds prepared a special proclamation for Friday February 8, 2008 honoring Dr. Seidel as the FDOY and celebrating Family Physician Day in South Dakota.

Dr. Seidel has been in practice since 1980 and is currently employed at Sanford Clinic Family Medicine 41st & Sertoma in Sioux Falls, SD. He completed his undergraduate studies at The University of South Dakota School of Medicine (currently known as the Sanford School of Medicine). He then completed his residency at the Sioux Falls Family Practice.

Dr. Seidel has been married to his wife Marilyn for 29 years, who has been an oncology nurse for 25 years. Together, they have two daughters Erin, 23, and Molly, 21. Erin is a recent graduate of Augustana College in Sioux Falls and is in her first year of medical school at the Sanford School of Medicine in Vermillion, SD. Molly is a junior nursing student at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD.

Dr. Seidel is an Elder in his church and has served on many committees. He has spent most of his life being involved with the interests of his children - spending many hours at soccer and with his daughter Molly working on her equestrian talents.
