Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead works to prevent accidental childhood injury, the leading killer of children 14 and under. The local group is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental injury. Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead is led by MeritCare Children's Hospital and is funded by Kohl's Department Store.

"Over the past five years, Kohl's has been a generous sponsor of Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead, giving over $125,000 to support our programs. With this money we are able to provide educational materials and programs to families, professionals and children in our community," says Bobbi Paper, Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead coordinator, "These programs help keep our children safe."

Nationally, Kohl's Cares for Kids® benefits more than 150 hospitals. From the program's inception in 2000 through 2006, Kohl's has turned $5 books and plush toys into more than $85 million for children nationwide while providing affordable books for millions of eager readers.
