Sanford Health Announces Childrens Clinic in Duncan Oklahoma
Design for the new Sanford Children's Clinic in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Sanford Health announced today a new partnership with Duncan Regional Hospital (DRH) in Duncan, Oklahoma to establish a childrens clinic. The new facility, designed to look like a castle, will be built on a four acre lot on the northwest corner of the DRH campus. It is expected to open summer 2009 with two pediatricians and support staff. As part of the partnership, DRH will provide the land for the new clinic and Sanford Health will build and operate the facility.
"This clinic will provide children of the Duncan, Oklahoma area greater access to care close to home," says Scott Street, President and CEO of Duncan Regional Hospital.
Duncan, Oklahoma with a population of 22,500 and a market area of over 200,000 responded to a Sanford Health request for proposal in May to be the first Sanford Childrens Clinic because there are currently no pediatricians in the community. Duncan was selected from 26 applicants from around the world. In February of this year, after a $400 million donation from Mr. T. Denny Sanford, Sanford Health announced plans to create the childrens clinics.
"We plan to work closely with existing providers and surrounding communities to be a good healthcare partner for the people in the Duncan, Oklahoma area," says Sanford Health Executive Vice President Dave Link. "This relationship is exemplary of our commitment that care is best delivered close to home." Sanford Health is working with additional organizations in urban areas that wish to expand their pediatric services.
