Sanford Health announced today its recent outdoor 3-on-3 tournament proceeds with a matching donation from the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Sanford Health announced today its recent outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament raised $3,500 for the Mike Miller Foundation, a direct supporter of Sanford Childrens. In addition to the $3,500 raised from the event, the Sioux Falls Skyforce announced a matching $3,500 donation, bringing the event proceeds to $7,000.
The Sanford Sports Streetball Challenge was held August 11 in downtown Sioux Falls, featuring 80 teams of all ages from a four-state region.
"To have this level of success our first year is exciting," said tournament director Paul Ten Haken."We are looking forward to growing this event to be the premier 3-on-3 tournament in the region. In addition, having a community partner like the Skyforce share our commitment to children speaks to the character of their organization."
All of the event proceeds were donated to the Mike Miller Foundation, an ongoing supporter of Sanford Childrens. "We are pleased to have been a part of this great event," said Mike Heineman, Sioux Falls Skyforce Owner."Anytime we can give back to the community and helps kids at the same time is really a win-win for us."
Event officials are already making preparations for next year, including considering expanding the event to allow even more teams to participate.
