Sanford Clinic Breast Health Institute Moves to New Location Audio Interview
The regions premier facility for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer has expanded. The second phase of the Sanford Cancer Center
located on the Sanford USD Medical Center campus in Sioux Falls opened this week. Phase Two of the Cancer Center is dedicated to a new location for Sanford Clinic Breast Health Institute which gains 15,000 square feet to more comfortably serve the diagnostic needs of patients.
"The Breast Health Institute is equipped with the highest quality imaging and diagnostic equipment for our patients," says Breast Health Institute Director Betty Meyer. "This includes digital mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, breast biopsy and scintimammography."
The expanded Cancer Center also includes a patient resource center with cancer reference material, including the internet, books, and pamphlets, for patients and their families. Bloom Boutique will also have a home in the Cancer Center. Bloom Boutique carries a wide variety of specialized products and services that help manage the changes in appearance from cancer treatments.
The first phase of the Cancer Center opened in 2003 and houses radiation services. Future expansion plans include moving the medical oncologists, infusion, and research to the Cancer Center and creating a healing garden for patients and visitors to relax. The Breast Health Institute will also have another home in the Sanford Womens Health Plaza which opens in October. The Plaza located at 57th Street and Western Avenue in Sioux Falls will offer extended hours for digital mammography screenings.Click here to listen to Betty MeyerContact:
