Sioux Valley Health System has announced the soon to be built Sanford Childrens Hospital facility will be constructed west of Sioux Valley Hospital USD Medical Center on land currently owned by Sioux Valley. The building will sit adjacent to the current Sioux Valley Surgical Tower in order to be in close proximity to the Sioux Valleys surgical services and the Boekelheide Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The Sanford Childrens Hospital facility is currently in planning stages with a groundbreaking set for spring 2007 and an anticipated completion in 2009.
Sanford Childrens (currently located in various locations on Sioux Valleys campus) offers thousands of patients from birth to age 18 the latest technology and care practices in an environment tailored to meet the unique needs of children. Sanford Childrens has more than 300 specially trained staff and over 25 pediatric sub-specialty trained physicians who provide a vast array of comprehensive healthcare services for infants, children and young adults. The new 145,000 square foot Sanford Childrens Hospital facility will provide inpatient, outpatient and clinic services for pediatric patients and their families all in one building. The over 60 bed facility will be the first dedicated childrens hospital in the region and will increase pediatric healthcare services for this area.
Thanks to a generous lead gift from Mr. T. Denny Sanford and donations from numerous other donors, the dream of having a dedicated childrens hospital in this region is becoming a reality.
