Annual U.S. News and World Report Issue Recognizes Sioux Valley - Sioux Valley Hospital USD Medical Center is one of Americas best hospitals, according to U.S. News and World Report magazine. The annual "Americas Best Hospitals" issue on July 17, 2006 recognizes Sioux Valley Hospital for its outstanding care in three specialties (#37 in endocrinology, #44 in gynecology, and #50 in urology).
The annual "America's Best Hospitals" issue identifies centers that take on and excel at tough procedures and conditions. Out of 5,189 hospitals, only 3 percent (176 in all) are ranked in one or more of the 16 specialties in this years "Americas Best Hospitals" issue. Other facilities recognized by the magazine include, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic. Sioux Valley is the only hospital in South Dakota to be recognized in this issue.
In addition, in the same U.S. News and World Report Issue, Sioux Valley Hospital was recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Associations Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) program. The GWTG program is a quality-improvement program that helps hospitals ensure that patients consistently receive cardiac and stroke care in accordance with the most up-to-date guidelines and recommendations.
