LodgeNet to provide Interactive Digital Television Technology.
Sioux Valley Hospital USD Medical Center is excited to announce a new system that will improve patient satisfaction and improve the overall hospital experience for patients and their loved ones. Sioux Valley has partnered with LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation of Sioux Falls to launch the PATIENTVIEW system.
The PATIENTVIEW system will allow patients and their loved ones to watch premium movies on-demand, view educational information about symptoms, diagnosis and/or recovery, play interactive games, and request hospitality-type services right from the hospital bed. Hospital rooms are also now equipped with improved LCD television monitors, enhanced DIRECTV programming, and a new direct access remote control.
"Sioux Valleys goal and mission Dedicated to the Work of Healing goes beyond the award winning clinical care which we provide," says Becky Nelson, President of Sioux Valley Hospital USD Medical Center. "PATIENTVIEW is an additional amenity that we can provide to our patients and their loved ones that will improve comfort and promote healing. We believe the PATIENTVIEW system powered by LodgeNets Interactive Solution, will help us serve our patients as well as provide more information for patients and families than ever before."
While patients and their loved ones enjoy the educational and entertainment component of PATIENTVIEW, nursing staff will use this powerful tool to maximize every minute of patient contact.
"We decided to implement the system hospital wide earlier than planned due to overwhelming feedback from patients as well as from nursing staff," adds Nelson. "PATIENTVIEW is a cost effective and reliable way to educate patients and inform them about the hospital environment which can be overwhelming for some patients and their families."
Sioux Valley partnered with Sioux Falls based LodgeNet to bring this interactive system to its patients. LodgeNet is the world leader in interactive TV and broadband solutions to hotels throughout the United States and Canada as well as select international markets.
"LodgeNet is pleased to offer its healthcare interactive solution in Sioux Valley Hospital to provide a more hotel-like experience for patients and family members who expect more from hospitals today than ever before," said Scott C. Petersen, LodgeNet President and CEO. "Our interactive solution provides many options for educating, informing and entertaining patients during their healthcare journey while providing Sioux Valley with operational efficiencies to support its BetterSystem of Care."
Sioux Valley began installation of the PATIENTView system in April 2006 and completed the installation in June 2006.
