MeritCare Hosts Parents Fair on Saturday March 18

Tomorrow, Saturday, March 18, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., MeritCare, and it's presenting sponsor SunMart, are holding the 21st annual Parents' Fair at the Fargo Civic Center, 207 Fourth St. N. The goal of the event is to provide information to help kids and families stay healthy. This year's event will provide numerous sessions on topics ranging from conception to substance abuse in teenagers, as well as a display area featuring informative booths.

This year's event will provide numerous sessions on topics ranging from conception to substance abuse in teenagers, as well as a display area featuring informative booths.

Nationally renowned pediatrician Dr. Harvey Karp will present two sessions; "The Happiest Baby on the Block" from 9-10:30 a.m., and "The Happiest Toddler on the Block" from 3-4:30 p.m. Dr. Karp is known for helping parents develop techniques to deal with everything from colic to tantrums to picky eating.

  • CPR classes
  • Bike helmet fittings
  • Photo identification for kids and fingerprinting from 1-3 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. Anyone involved in caring for children is invited to attend – moms, dads, prospective parents, grandparents, teachers, day-care providers and health-care professionals. Free parking is available and free day care will be offered for 1-to-6-year-olds by the United Child Care Providers Association at Bridgetown Daycare, 321 Fourth St. N.
