At Sanford Health, the Speech-Language Pathologists, more commonly known as Speech Therapists, provide a wide range of services to help preserve and improve patient communication and swallowing skills. They help both children and adults overcome their communication issues whether they are the result of a traumatic accident, neurological condition or due to a pre-existing condition. They work mainly one-on-one with patients but also provide support for families and groups.
Our speech therapists assess patients for:
- Cognitive linguistic disorders
- Feeding and swallowing skills
- Hearing disorders
- Receptive and expressive language disorders
- Dysfluency (stuttering)
After making a diagnosis, therapists will begin to formulate the best treatment plan based on the patient's individual needs. They work in conjunction with physicians to provide personalized plans to help patients recover as fast and as safely as possible.
