Are Dense Breasts More Likely to Get Cancer with Thomas Cink MD
Thomas Cink, M.D., a breast health specialist at Sanford Health, talks about breast density and cancer. Women with dense breasts are at a slightly higher risk for developing breast cancer. Mammograms and monthly breast self-exams are still the best way to detect breast cancer even in women with higher breast density. Researchers are studying additional ways of screening dense breast tissue – including breast MRIs and ultrasound – but continue to recommend mammograms as the standard for breast cancer prevention.
