More than two years ago, Sanford Health and MeritCare took the bold step of uniting, creating the largest rural health care system in the country. In February, 2011, the health system expanded even further when North Country Health Services of Bemidji, Minnesota, joined the Sanford Health family. With the merger of the Sioux Falls and Fargo based health systems, and the addition of Bemidji, came the blending of operations and processes of each region's Foundation.
With donors crossing regional lines, Foundation teams are working to ensure operations and communications are efficient. Starting in 2012, instead of having multiple named levels within each region, there will be four uniformly named. These changes are intended to honor donors and ensure consistent and appropriate cumulative giving recognition.
In tandem with the recognition modifications will be name changes to some long-established funds to include regional identifiers. For example, where donors may have previously seen "Sanford Children's Fund" they will now see Sioux Falls, Fargo or Bemidji in the fund's name.
Honoring donor intent remains the Foundation's highest priority. Donors can have complete confidence that gifts will be directed to support the areas and regions specified.
