Statistically, four out of five car seats are installed incorrectly. In this area and nation-wide the most common car seat misuse is not getting the seat tight enough in the vehicle. Other misuses include having a loose harness, not routing the harness correctly and improperly using the seat belt or lower anchors.
Each Tuesday and Thursday, Safe Kids Fargo/Moorhead conducts Car Seat Check Up Events at The Safety Shoppe (601 39th St. N. Fargo ). Trained technicians will be available to teach parents, grandparents, and caregivers how to use and install their car seats correctly. You may bring your child with you if desired, and we can fit the seat to them properly.
The events are free and open to the public. Space is limited and appointments are required.
Please note that it will take a minimum of 30 minutes per car seat per car.
