Join us for Freedom From Smoking
The program is designed to prepare people, mentally and physically, to quit smoking and guide them through the quitting process. Classes are taught by a facilitator certified by the American Lung Association.
Class dates and times
There are seven classes in the series, which costs $110. Participants meet weekly at 5:30 p.m. for 90 minutes to two hours per class.
Wednesday, April 17 and 24; May 1, 8 and 15;
Friday, May 17, and Wednesday, May 22 and 29
What to expect
You can expect to learn more about the dangers of smoking, but we will never tell you that you are wrong for doing so. You will also find comfort in surrounding yourself with people like you who want to free themselves from smoking.
Classes One through Four
Your first session will prepare you to stop smoking, while the next three will coach you and continue to prepare you for what’s to come.
The fifth class is focused on officially butting out. During this week, you will meet twice so that you get the encouragement and support of your peers and coaches.
The sixth class, held two days after quitting smoking, will address difficulties participants may be experiencing and reinforce education from the previous classes.
Your final class reinforces good habits and offers information on remaining smoke-free.
If nicotine replacement is needed, an order may be obtained from a physician. Instruction will be provided on proper use, as determined by participants and their physicians.
The classes are generally not covered by insurance, but some insurances may assist with costs associated with quitting smoking.
