Gynecologic Cancers

Overview

Gynecologic oncology is the treatment of women with cancer of the reproductive organs. Patients cared for by gynecologic oncologists have twice the survival rates of patients not treated by a  specialist in gynecologic cancer.

Gynecologic oncologists are trained in obstetrics and gynecology but complete three additional years of training to learn complex gynecologic surgeries, administration of chemotherapy and treatment for gynecologic cancers. They have extensive experience in providing care for women with pelvic cancers, precancerous conditions and complex gynecological conditions, including:

  • Cervical cancer
  • Cervical dysplasia (precancer)
  • Endometrial cancer
  • Fallopian tube cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Vulvar cancer
  • Vulvar dysplasia (precancer)
  • Vaginal cancer
  • Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia

Whether it is embracing a new robotic surgical technique, making a house call or continuing their research to find a cure, our gynecologic oncologists, Dr. Maria Bell and Dr. Anna Priebe, focus on preventing, diagnosing and treating gynecologic cancers.

Treatments

We have a precise and goal-oriented approach to treatment. These steps include:

  1. Determining your treatment plan. Diagnosis is critical for determining an appropriate treatment plan.
  2. Delivering your treatment plan.  Our internationally recognized team of specialists makes all the difference in treating the whole patient – not just the cancer. A collective team of experts come together to review your specific needs and determine the most effective treatment plan.
  3. Evaluating your treatment plan.  This collective team is a multidisciplinary group of world renowned physicians, who rely on each other’s expertise and experience to not only create personalized treatment plans for each of our patients but to monitor care management as well.
  4. Supporting your recovery.  Patients are supported in their journey back to health by their specialist and team of nurses, counselors and navigators.
