Sanford Health’s emergency service consists of:

  • Board-certified emergency doctors all specially trained in trauma
  • Emergency nurses with specialized training in advanced cardiac, trauma and pediatric emergency care
  • An organized, specially trained emergency team, which includes; an emergency surgeon and anesthesiologist, ready to respond immediately
  • An operating room open 24 hours a day/7 days a week providing rapid access to surgical intervention, with state-of-the-art resuscitation equipment

Emergency or walk-in—making the right decision

The Sanford Walk-in Clinics are not intended to be a substitute for an emergency room. In a true emergency, dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. The Sanford Walk-in Clinics are not intended to treat chronic conditions or serious medical conditions. See your personal doctor in those cases.

Recognized for our Heart Attack Care

Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck is the only healthcare institution in western North Dakota to receive the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Quality Achievement Award, which speaks to its commitment and success in implementing high standards of care for heart attack patients.
