Donors Make a Difference in Recovery for Pediatric Patients
Owen Anderson entered the world at 23 weeks and weighed only 1 pound, 2 ounces. His parents, Nathan and Stacy, relied on the comfort and knowledge of doctors and nurses from the Sanford Health Partners Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. “That’s when this journey began,” said Stacy Anderson, Owen’s mother. “It was confusing, scary and unknown. But one thing we knew for sure: Owen had a strong will.”
The Andersons spent the first six and a half months of Owen’s life in the NICU, watching him overcome many obstacles with the help of his determination and the special programs and services at Sanford Children’s made possible through philanthropic support. Owen suffers from numerous complications – including eye problems, stomach infections, respiratory issues and brain bleeds.
“The therapists have really taken the time to get to know Owen and understand his many challenges,” Stacy said. “That means a lot to us and it has certainly helped Owen.”
Your gifts to the Sanford Health Foundation and Sanford Children’s Hospital provide the programs and services that make the recovery of children, like Owen, possible.
