Many situations are not emergencies, but do require immediate medical attention. These situations require what is referred to as acute care. Examples of these types of needs include ear infections, sprains, high fevers, vomiting, urinary tract infections, and fractures.
Some conditions should be treated more immediately at the Emergency Room, those include seizure or loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, inability to breathe or shortness of breath, and chest pain.
