It's About Leading for Sanford Medical Center Partners
What happens when 721 dedicated volunteers join hands with a medical center -- and all want to make life better for patients and families? An incredible $5 million gift!
The largest of its kind in North Dakota history, the pledge from Sanford Medical Center Partners leads the “Building Tomorrow for Today” campaign.
“This is a plucky group of people with a 50-year legacy of service,” says Mary Stenson, director of Sanford Partners, formerly known as the Auxiliary. “They come together, serve others and bravely look challenges in the eye.”
Their inspiration to give? It’s close to home. Almost all have been patients at Sanford or know someone who has: a family member, neighbor or friend.
“Everyone knows how unsetting -- even traumatic -- it can be when you’re in unfamiliar territory going through an unfamiliar experience,” says Mary. “The sweet, hospitable graces can go a long way. No, we can’t take away the difficult diagnosis, but we can make things a little more comfortable while you’re here in our house.”
While many in Sanford Partners actively donate their time at Sanford Medical Center, others quietly contribute to the goal of $5 million. All know they’re part of something momentous: a top-notch health care facility that will anchor the region for generations to come.
“How many times do you get the chance to be part of something this big?” says Mary. “Sanford Partners recognized this and wanted to leave a big footprint. It’s also a wonderful way to honor the 50 years of volunteers who came before us.”
And that big footprint? It’s going to make a difference in the lives of Sanford’s tiniest patients and their families. Sanford Partners chose to dedicate their gift to enhancing care and healing at Sanford Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Fargo.
