Reconstructive Surgery Jawbone Fractures

Because of the prominent position of the lower jaw, mandible fractures are the most common fracture of the facial skeleton. Reduction and stabilization of the mandible fracture is key to treatment. The most popular technique of treatment involves wiring of the teeth in addition to plate and screw fixation of the fracture. These wires may be present for up to six weeks.
