The Family Advisory Council for the Boekelheide Neonatal Intensive Care Unit was established in 2001. The Council is composed of parents who have had children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and healthcare professionals from the Unit. The Council meets once a month at Sanford Children's Hospital to fulfill their mission.
Family Advisory Council Mission The Family Advisory Council seeks to enhance the delivery of family-centered care in the Sanford Childrens Hospital Boekelheide Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by providing process for communication between families and healthcare providers.
How We Fulfill Our Mission
The Family Advisory Council:
- channels information, ideas, needs and concerns of families to hospital staff
- participates in program development, implementation and evaluation
- assists in establishing priorities related to patient and family needs
- participates in the development and planning of new facilities and facility renovation
- provides an opportunity for families and consumers to discuss issues and review/recommendations submitted to the Council by staff and administrators
- helps implement and evaluate policy and program changes
