Sanford Children’s Health Research Center is a two-site campus led by David A. Pearce, PhD, Director, Sioux Falls, SD and by Fred Levine, MD, PhD, Director, La Jolla, CA. The La Jolla site is located within the Burnham Institute for Medical Research. A unique partnership is in place with the Burnham Institute for Medical Research (La Jolla, CA) as well as national and international research relationships through Sanford Children’s Hospital with key focus areas including diabetes, genomics, fetal alcohol syndrome and perinatal cardiology.

We are currently developing research programs and recruiting faculty of all ranks for the Sanford Children’s Research Center in Sioux Falls. While we have no specific area of focus the common theme is research on diseases or maladies that affect children. The Director of the Center, David A Pearce, has a track record of using interdisciplinary research to study the autosomal recessively inherited neurodegenerative disorder, Batten disease. The mission of the Sanford Children’s Research Center is to develop translational research for pediatrics.
